Day 8 (13th July, 2018)

Day 8 was mostly driving – On Friday the 13th we had a long day ahead us. Prague – Amsterdam almost 900 km and at least 10 hours in a car – not the most sensible plan, but we knew it wasn’t a challenging task considering that we were driving through Germany. We left the hotel in Prague at 8 am. and we were in Amsterdam at 6:10 pm. So we managed to drive 900 km in 10 hours and 10 minutes including 3 short pitstops and one lunch break. Somewhere in the half way the oncoming traffic was stopped due to an accident and the tailback was at least 10 km long. We were lucky that we didn’t face any traffic jams.

By the way my car has never reach the speed of 152 km per hour until the 13th July, 2018. The average speed on German highway ”Autobahn” is around 130 km per hour.

We were in Amsterdam after 6 o’clock in the evening. We had booked a hotel from Zaandam, which is a city close to Amsterdam. Train from Zaandam to Amsterdam – Centraal takes max. 12 minutes. We were very pleased to the city of Zaandam and its surroundings. We had a nice dinner in Italian Restaurant and that was all we needed after the long day on the road. Couldn’t wait to get some sleep. On the ninth day we were ready to explore Amsterdam.
